Performance Night

All of the hard work and time I've put in at the theater shop was for tonight.
Kelly Helped with makeup,

And the boxes you see in each corner covered in red cloth were my handy work.

The name of the production was, "A Slice of Cesar".

Bowling

What more can I say. We spent Sunday afternoon in the bowling alley with the serious Korean bowlers. As with most things in Korea they go all out with their bowling. Check out these bionic wrist braces. Everyone had one on.

Now the coolest part was the vending machine for your fancy bowling shoes. Only 1000 won. About a dollar.

That is.... After you use your smart phone to find the international shoe size conversion chart.

Once shoes are in hand, on the feet it's off to the lanes.

Get your dance on

For their current lesson in PE the entire school has been working on Hip-Hop. I snuck into class today and tried to get you all a glimpse at Grant getting his groove on. Apparently he is more Hevland than O'dom when it comes to dance.

And yes he is the one with the curly blond hair in the back.

Warmth

It finally warmed up a bit today. The sun was out, as it usually is, but it was actually producing some heat. It was nice to walk between the buildings at school and not have to put a jacket on or run from door to door. Maybe mother nature has decided to thaw things out.

New Art on the Wall

After many weeks of waiting for our artwork to return from the framer it has finally arrived. Today we got out the concrete drill, wall anchors, level and the crayon. Needed the crayon to mark the cheep wall paper without ruining it. Between Kelly's perfect eye and my handy man skills we have new decor on the walls. Both are hand painted and on hand made paper. We got them a couple of months ago during one of our trips Insadong.

It's amazing how a little art on the wall can change a room.

Sleep over

Grant had his buds Noah and Finn over tonight for the first official sleepover at the Hevland's house. BBQ hot dogs and french fries, made by dad, for dinner.

Followed by home made chocolate cookies by mom. Is it strange that their choice of movies for the night was Star Wars, Return of the Jedi? I'm pretty sure I watched that as a kid at a sleepover. And yes I watched a bit tonight.

Popcorn during the movie was Watson's favorite.

The coolest part of the evening was when the three crawled into bed and they each grabbed books. What good kids.

Dogs and Beaverton

To start off with, a big Thank You to my Dad.  What a guy.  He and Mom went to the Beaverton Police Department's award ceremony this evening, just so they could set up a laptop and let me watch by skype.  My dog boys were honored with the departments "Unit Award" for their outstanding performance in 2011.  And yes I took a screen shot video of the guys getting their award.  I  would have to say I miss getting all dressed up in blue and carrying a gun at times.  I even miss graveyard a bit.

Well not long after they were off the stage Watson and I went to visit the PreK class and give a presentation on community helpers.  I've done numerous ones at Bonny Slope and today was my first official "Community Helper" presentation at Chadwick International.
Watson was a good sport as always.

He didn't bite one child...or adult.  But boy does he like his tennis balls.

Before Watson

After Watson.  Less than two minutes.

The kid with gills

If he's not in the pool for swim team practice he is in the pool for something. Today it was water polo. He has water polo practice once a week and swim team once a week.

He is the one that can hardly see through his bangs. Although he let Kelly trim them, just a little, last night.

Kelly Rocks

Why is Kelly the best first grade teacher? Because she does cool projects like this.

Eric Carle would be proud of the first graders in class 1A.

Good thing Kelly knew someone that could find four big pieces of plywood, white primer and silicon to attach them to the wall.

Hitting the slopes

Dude and I joined John, Jessica and David West for a trip to the ski slopes. It is no Mt Hood that's for sure but it was an hour drive and lift tickets were pretty reasonable for the 8am-1pm run. Funny thing is they make snow every morning since it hasn't been snowing much lately.
It took Grant one run to remember how things worked and after that it was straight down the hill.

Birthday Party

Grant joined the rest of his third grade class for a group birthday party. It was held on the 47th floor of one of the "Central Park" apartment buildings. What a view.

The buildings in the distance on the left is Well County, where we live, and Central Park is right in front.

And this is the rest of Songdo

Sledding

I think we are back up and running. This post has been pending for a couple of weeks now.

Kelly went out with the girls this afternoon so Grant and I headed for the Incheon Grand Park sledding hill. It hasn't snowed much here in the last month but they make their own.
