It has been a very long time since my last post.  It's been quite busy with the new job, new kid, new house (times 2) and all of that.

Grant's 14th birthday was yesterday and we had a nice little family celebration at home with just the four of us.

We have three and half weeks left in the school year and then a nice break.

Grant was part of the middle school theater production and after 3 long months of rehearsal the play went on.

The answer is...

Thai Milk Tea. One of Grant and Marks new favorite drink. On the street at the nice little ladies coffee stand it cost 20Baht, about .75 cents.




But when you are out to dinner it is 89Baht, so about 2.25.

In the scrum

Grant is enjoying rugby, way more than Kelly is.  He loves the tackling and rolling around, it's the blood and bruises that come with it that Kelly isn't a fan of.  Since he is the smallest one on the team he is suppose to stay out of the scrum, so he is the half back.  He is in charge of starting each play.  Still gets in a good tackle here and there.

Not quite sure if he is tall enough.

Good weekend

What a fantastic weekend. Our good friends Josh and Ginger came to visit with there son Jonah. Gemma was quite excited to have "baby" visiting. Even more excited to get a princess dress.



Grant was jazzed to have Josh to play Xbox with. Gemma was just intrigued to see the tv on.


These two are happy because Thai food is on the way.


And Josh and Ginger are happy because they love Thai food too. We did some serious damage on all those plates.


After a big dinner there is nothing better than foot massages at home on the couch. I won't show the other two getting elbows ground into their back.


Sunday morning was a trip to the market. Hmmmm. How many young coconuts do we need? 10 should do. By 9pm six were gone and 90% of those had run poured into them.


Grant helped with dinner and did a great dry rub to the big pork loin that went on the BBQ.


Also prepped a few other things. Can you guess what else went on the BBQ by the items left in the sink? Don't see that very often in your sink in the states.


Kids to bed and a nice evening by the pool for the adults. Great to have friends from Shanghai coming to visit. More to arrive tomorrow.

When it rains

We had a bit of rain today and felt bad that our Mae Bahn (house mom when translated from Thai) had to ride home on a scooter. We loaded up in the car to take her home and figured after dropping her off we would go get some dinner in the village.



Good thing we took the SUV and not the golf cart.


Never would had made it through that puddle.

Miracles do happen

So I know it's been ages since the last post, and a ton has happened. We have moved to Bangkok Thailand, Grant is 13, Watson is 11, Kelly's hair is longer and I've lost a few pounds. Oh, and we have a daughter. Yes, Gemma joined our family 13 weeks ago and is a beautiful 4 year old from southern China.

This post is from Hua Hin. Our first three day weekend at the International School Bangkok and we did a family road trip. 3 hours south to a nice beach town.

The parents are here!!!

We are so happy to have mom and dad here in Shanghai for the next couple of weeks. We have been having a wonderful last few days as we celebrated the Chinese New Year.

At the iconic "Bund" of Shanghai on a beautiful day.







A traditional lion dance and a trip to the YuYuan Gardens to celebrate New Year's Day. I think mom and dad were surrounded by all 3.6 million Shanghai residents.















Can't wait for the rest of the trip. We have plans for market shopping, celebrating mom's birthday and trips to the school. So glad to have them here. ❤️

My son...the model???!?!???

Add a new experience to the adventure! Grant has decided to earn some cold hard cash and that's hard to do as an overseas pre-teen. There aren't your usual newspaper routes, babysitting gigs or jobs at the local McDonalds for expat kids. So he put his name in the ring with all the other blue eyed, blondes for a modeling job. Yep, you read that correctly. It's common practice overseas for kids to model since many Asian companies like the look of our American kiddos. ☺️

Grant will be on a Chinese website (like Amazon) "selling" a clothing brand called Ocean Current. Will keep you posted when it goes live so you can see his handsome face. Oh my...

As for G, he's happy since he walked away from the couple hours with several hundred bucks in his pocket. I'm happy that he choose to put half of his earnings in his college account! 😉
