Cop work

Just when I thought my life of chasing people had come to a long and drawn out pause the stars aligned. While walking back to my office I hear a bellow down the path asking me for help. The middle school principal had just suspended a student for an arson related event at the school. As he stormed out of the office, after being told his dad was getting a call to pick him up, he made threats of burning down the school, "lucky day for me".
Off he ran. Well it was no dog track and I didn't get to pound on him when I caught him but it got the heart a pumping.

Let's call that capture #1 for Mark in Korea

Construction

The PreK class has been working on a project to build a playhouse out of reusable materials around the school. They have been collecting plastic bottles and materials for weeks. On Monday I was asked to help build the frame of the house. Good thing I was asked a couple of months ago to outfit the theater wood shop. POWER TOOLS THAT SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR. YA BABY!!! They all arrived a week ago so I was set. Started Monday morning and by Tuesday afternoon (Collateral duties slowed me down a bit) the frame was done and set up in the center of the elementary school. Yesterday the kids and parents added their part. It looks pretty good. And yes, that is teak I had to work with. Pretty expensive playhouse.

More Snow

After that first flake came down things changed a bit.  By the time Watson and I got back to the house it was swirling around everywhere.  It snowed until about 12:00 then the sun came out and started melting it all away.

But then.... Saturday morning we woke up to everything covered in white.

SNOW!!!

On my morning walk to the park with Watson it was 31 degrees with a slight breeze. As my shoulder creaked and popped from a distance throw of the kong I noticed small white flaky things falling from the sky. Caught one in my hand but I'm just so warm blooded it disappeared. I caught this one on my jacket sleeve. Very fitting since the schools Staff Holiday party is this evening. Let it snow let it snow.

Just got an update from our friend John who worked for the Forest Service in Idaho and predicted avalanches. This is a "Stellar Dendrite" flake.

Turkey Day

Not the same as being in Oregon with family but we had a great time.  21 of our new friends from all over the globe joined us in our little apartment for Thanksgiving day.  Jessica and I cooked six chickens, mashed potatoes and gravy and everyone else brought something to share.  We ate, drank, laughed and yes, sang.  Scary thought there, thank goodness we have friends with some talent.

When you don't have a hand mixer you use what you have.  I say, "who is happy they brought their cordless drill" almost once a week.
Top left to right, Shelly, Tamarisk, Tim, Tanya, Young and Cathy
Top left, Coco, Grant, Sonni.  Bottom left Daisy, Forrest.
Watson and Michael.  Is that really tea he is drinking?
The whole crew.  David, Tim, Erin, Tamara, Mark Kelly
Shelly, Tamarisk, Christina, Young, Michael, Forrest, Coco, Grant, Chris, Sonni, Daisy, Cathy
Watson, Jessica, & John (Finn was asleep)

Oops

Here is what happens when you are Mark and you get a new iPhone in Korea. Well you also have to be the Mark that forgets to put that nice heavy duty iPhone case you have on the phone.
And the Mark who is late to school so you try to take a short cut on your bike.
And the mark that jumps off a curb on your bike and doesn't have your phone secured.
Good thing I got a job, the replacement wasn't cheap.

Sunny Day

Kelly had to work at school today for an open house. The sun was out so Grant and I took off the bikes to enjoy the parks around town. The zip line was at the top of our list.
