Birthday in Greece

Yesterday was spent doing a hop on/off bus tour. Saw a bunch of great spots during the day and had some great food. I love Greek food.

Left Athens at 7:30 on Friday. Took the Highspeed6 ferry and arrived in Santorini at 12:15.


It started out with a light rain but cleared up.

Acropolis

Today was the Acropolis day. The sun was out and it was hot. We planned to go early which worked out well.

It's pretty impressive to be standing next to structures that are over 3000 years old. And that were built with out anything but man power.

Grant at the museum in front of the original pillars that have been moved from their original location to be preserved. They have a cool Greek name but I can't remember it.

Summer vacation has begun

The summer 2015 vacation has begun. Left Monday night from Shanghai for Athens via Istanbul.


Turkish Air wasn't to bad.

Arrived in Athens at 9:00am Tuesday and the view from the plane was great.



Met our friends the Powers for lunch. Had some great tzatziki. We will meet up again with them in a week or so in Crete.



After lunch, and a short nap, we headed out to explore.


Had some great nuts from a road side vendor.


The shops are everywhere.


In for the evening now at 8:15 as the jet lag will set in. Heading for the Acropolis in the morning.
