Back at potato head

Friday we saved because our friends the Sharps were in Bali. Headed over to Seminyak in the morning to meet them for brunch then to their villa for an early happy hour.
The kids played in the pool and we laughed and drank. Miss them tons.
Headed to Potato Head Beach club for a follow up visit from our last trip to Bali, it didn't disappoint.

Good food, great friends and a fabulous view for dinner.

Today is our last day in Bali. We are lounging by the pool and will pack after dinner. Flight back to Shanghai leaves at 1:05am, back in China at 7:00am Sunday.

Then I have to be on the bus to work at 6:50 Monday morning. Yuck

Some Highlights in Bali

I would guess one of Grants highlights would be his surfing school.  Three days in Kutu surfing for almost 3 hours each day.  I think he's ready to try hanging "5"

With all good surfing come some good crashes.

The face is priceless

On the last day of surfing school we joined in on the daily baby turtle release.  They collect the eggs from the beach and move them to a safe environment to hatch.  Once they hatch they release them on the beach and safeguard them to swim back to the ocean.
 Pretty Cute

 Go turtles go

Grant and I went on the hunt for the black sand beach.  And we found it.

A bit of sea kayaking

And a day of relaxing.  Kelly's new favorite drink, Red bull and Vodka.  Mmmmm tasty.

Beach time

Grant and his surf school instructor. This place was based out of the Hard Rock Hotel in Kutu. Pretty cool surf school

Grant was busy at the pool saving months. This guys name was spot.

Spent the day just chill'n on the beach. Chicken satay for lunch and a few tasty beverages.

What a handsome couple. Sure wish I was in the picture. :-)

Comfort zone

Let's just start with a shot from where I am currently working on the blog.

Now that you have an image of our rough day I will move on.

Kelly had a great idea for the next two weeks. We each had to come up with an idea of something to do that was just outside our comfort zone. We had two days to think about it and then present at dinner. The key was the other two had to vote on whether it met the "out of comfort zone" requirement. Following are the agreed and approved upon activities.

Kelly - 8:00am yoga class every morning until we leave on the 27th
Mark - No carb diet for 48 hours, with a 24 hour break after each 48 hour block until we leave. (Day two and I'm not going cray yet)
Grant - He will be our daily blog master. He will be posting our daily activities on his blog at http://blogs.saschina.org/grant01pd2021/ (He is currently working on his first post.)

A bit of rain

Day three here in Sanur.
A bit of rain came in whilst we sat by the pool. But do you think it bothered Grant?

Ubud adventures

A bit of an update from Ubud.

Tree top adventures for two. This is our second trip here, it is a great time. Unfortunately the shoulder isn't well enough yet to do this but Kelly and Grant had a blast. Bet the Mitchell's will remember this place.

Lunch afterwards overlooking the fabulous rice paddies.

Then a bit of Balinese dancing to wrap up the evening.

Leaving Ubud and heading for Sanur today.

Mmmm, new food

Who had frog legs for lunch yesterday in Ubud Bali? That's right, we did. Tasted like chicken.

Off to the tree top adventures and the temple in the ocean today, then back to the beach in Sanur tomorrow.

Stop over in Shanghai

After almost three weeks in Portland I'm back in Shanghai, briefly. Had to drop off the 3 FULL checked bags I had and a trombone at home. Watson was very excited to see me but went right out the door with Xiao Yu when she called him.

Went by the school to check on a few projects. It's amazing that the school will be all sparkling by the time staff come back after the mess I saw to day. Construction everywhere.

My key card project is going well and looks like it is on schedule.

Always wanted to play in an empty pool

Kelly's classroom is ready for its new floors. And a good cleaning

All the scaffolding is made out of bamboo. Pretty impressive how they put it all together.

I'm sitting at the Pudong airport right now, where I just was 24 hours ago. Flight for Bali leaves in 45 minutes. I'm very excited to see Brenda and Jason. Oh wait has it been that long that I have forgotten their names?????
No, but I have missed them. Will be storming in the hotel room at 12:30 am, as quiet as "I" can be. Bet they will be excited to see me.
