Lady Gaga

While my fabulous husband has been off in the mountains enjoying nature...I was out enjoying some of the big city.

Lady Gaga opened her new world tour here in Seoul this Friday and a group of us from the school became "little monsters" and headed for the show!

After a quick driving break which resulted in a couple photo ops....

...we finally made it! The concert was amazing.

Unfortunately, the Koreans were not used to a large group of foreigners dressed up (especially in drag) so we caused a bit of a ruckus....oops.

Great night tho! Sorry Marcus....would much rather be here than in the woods eatin' tree bark. I guess that's why they say opposites attract. (-:

Day 2 OED part 2

We all had a chance to go take one of the hikes the students will be taking this week. This is their creek hike. We crossed the river at least 10 times during the day. Deepest one got the undies a bit damp. The weather and forest was beautiful.

View from the head of the trail.

One of the shallow easy crossings.

Clear water and rapids

Day 2 Outdoor Ed (ODE)

Arrived safely after almost a five hour drive. Being here reminds me a lot of camping on Mt Hood at home. Here are some photos of the base camp area after we unloaded Friday afternoon. This is pre student arrival.

Young is happy to be in the mountains.

Monday afternoon it will look completely different after 60 students and 9 staff members arrive.

Day 1 outdoor ed

All loaded up. Had to much stuff for one truck so we had to order another. I'm currently on the road in a one ton cargo truck with a korean driver who speaks no English. Should be an entertaining four hour ride. More from the field.

The important things

After a long day of outdoor ed work I decided it was time for a drink. To bad this one wont be ready for 8 days.
Here is the first batch of lemoncillo I've made abroad.

I'm wishing some of you were all here to share in the first drink. Maybe someone who has a birthday coming up on May 5th 😃

Produce shopping for camping trip

5 days until departure for Outdoor Ed program camping trip. The logistic team went to get fruit and vegetables at the produce market. Made it out with half a van full and under $1000.

This is Young, my logistics assistant. She makes me laugh daily.

Watson at work

Three 5th grade girls are doing a project related to teaching awareness of animal abuse. They are teaching younger students how to treat animals appropriately. Watson is their demo dog. I'm pretty sure he is loving the attention.

Or maybe not

I'm pretty sure that is the, "what the...." look.

Busy week

For those out there that got a strange email from my MSN account I apologize. My hevlands@msn.com account was hacked. Please delete it from your contact list and just use the gmail address.

As for life in Korea. I've been assigned as the Logistics coordinator for the schools outdoor Ed program. We leave on the 27th for a 5 day trip in the woods, camping with 60 8th graders. With all the students, teachers and instructors there will
be a total of 87 people. Part of my duties is the camp cook. Here is what $5000 dollars and 11 carts at a Korean Costco looks like.

That's not everything. We had two more stores after that.
My week has been spent unloading camping gear. Such a small truck compared to the forklift.

This was the order we placed weeks ago from the states that came over on a plane. Columbia outdoor gear. Yeah.
